NOTES

The Ghosts have an owner, who'll be playing games this week. Aylor Talbott has already pulled off his first deal in the VFBL as well picking up a free agent. He can be reached at ghosts@vfbl.org or veggie@pure.net.

Just a quick note. Vacation time of year is coming. Please be considerate, and let admin@vfbl.org know if you are going away and will not be able to play your games. We can have somebody on the admin team monitor your team's MP as needed.

FINALLY, JUST A FEW REMINDERS:

1) MAKE SURE OPPONENT'S MP IS UP-TO-DATE BEFORE PLAYING GAMES. DO NOT ASSUME.
2) FTF play IS NOT MANDITORY (except for the playoffs) OTHER OWNERS SHOULD NOT BE HARRASSED OR GUILTED INTO TRYING TO PLAY FTF.

RECAP

Races Tightening Up

PLEASE WELCOME: Aylor Talbott as the new owner of the Ghosts. He's already jumped in and tweak the roster, as he looks to make some noise in a strong NL East. Will they be heard over the Tommy Guns, Robber Barons, Bandits, and Maroons, though?

In the AL West, the Meat Possums have overtaken the Emeralds, and lead the division by a 1/2 game. The Gladiators are 1 1/2 games back. Rumor has it that the Willows are shopping stud starter "King" Felix Hernandez. It seems there are quite a few teams that could bolster their chances in tight division and playoff races with a top of the rotation starter. Will he be moved or will the price be to high?

WEEKLY SCHEDULE

Here is the complete Week 10 schedule:

Week 10 Schedule (6/8 - 6/14/10)
6 games (first team is away for 1st 3 games) 7 games (first team is away for 1st 3 games)
BUL vs EME PIN vs TIT
FAL vs MAR TIN vs GRI
  ROB vs BAN
  NOM vs DIR
  GHO vs TOM
  WOL vs GUL
  SLU vs AMI
  BRE vs FOR
  GLA vs RAP
  BEA vs MEA
  BOM vs DRI
  MER vs WIL

Be sure to get in contact with your opponent early ("e-mail him before he can e-mail you" is always a good rule to follow) and figure out if you're going to play Head-to-Head via NetPlay or MP them, and then schedule accordingly. It never hurts to cc admin@vfbl.org when trying to hook up with your opponent.

Results are due on Sunday, June 13, 2010 by 11:59pm EDT.

SEND RESULTS TO: admin@vfbl.org AND your opponent. If you are playing via MPs, if the team who plays the 1st half can send the results to US when you send them to your opponent it would be most helpful.

Extensions are going to be few and far between, unless something really emergent or unforseen has happened. Let's be honest here, you know the schedule for the whole season. The first game of a series will always begin on a Tuesday and end on Monday, so it is easy for you to determine your opponent for each week. There really is no excuse for not getting in touch with your opponent ASAP. You don't even need to wait for the new disk to come out each week to go ahead and contact each other to try and plan how you are going to play. Just be courteous and if you know you are going to be away on business, vacaction, or will be unable to play for a period of time please contact the admin team and we can help you work it out. This is a fun hobby for us all, but like anything else in life the key is communication.

TIPS

CHECK YOUR MANAGER PROFILE

Once you install the initial season disk, we would advise those of you that constructed preseason manager profiles (before the Week 01 disk was released) to double check them to ensure that all your settings are correct.

PAY ATTENTION TO OPPONENT'S INSTRUCTIONS

If an owner takes the time to send you an MP and/or instructions as to how to install his pitchers/lineups, take care to use these. Seen a couple of instances this year where MPs have been sent, only to be ignored/looked over/forgotten by opponents. If they're sending you an MP, it means they have changes from what's on the disk that may affect their rotation, or player usage, or whatever. So use them. Otherwise, you're risking having to play the games over again. And might get fined for repeated occurances.

When your opponent has taken the time and care to create an MP for your series that week, make sure to import it into the database. If you're unsure that you're doing things correctly, please contact the admin team for help.

Some important things to consider:

Merely downloading the zip file from the e-mail doesn't install it. You have to go to Import Statistics (found in the game menu under Transfer), find the zip file, click it open and import it.

If you do this, and the initial import screen comes up, and you don't see your opponent's team name there highlighted, there's a problem. Contact your opponent AND the admin team to resolve this.

You need to make sure the new disk for the week is installed BEFORE you import the MP. Otherwise, when you install the new database, it will overwrite the new MP with the old one.

DISCLAIMER: I apologize in advance if you think one of your players should have been nominated. It is very time consuming to find the nominees, and I may overlook somebody who should have been a candidate fairly easily, due to human error, tiredness, or boss. If you feel you have a player who may be worthy, than by all means include that piece of information when you email your stats for the week. Thank you for your listening.
